Overview

We pick you up inside the Whittier cruise ship terminal and begin a fully narrated journey along the Seward Highway—an official National Scenic Byway known for glaciers, mountains, and wildlife. This experience blends a comfortable transfer to Anchorage with classic Alaska sightseeing, a wildlife visit, and scenic photo stops, ending with direct drop-off at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (first stop) then select hotels.

Whittier & Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel

Depart Whittier and travel through the 2.5-mile, one-lane Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel—the longest highway tunnel in North America. After the scheduled opening, we pass beneath the mountains and emerge into Portage Valley.

Portage Valley Scenic Overlook

Stop in Portage Valley for panoramic views of Portage Lake and numerous hanging glaciers crowning the surrounding peaks— a perfect spot for photos.

Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (AWCC)

Continue to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center for ~1 hour. This sanctuary cares for Alaska’s iconic animals; view bison, elk, moose, caribou, musk oxen, eagles, and—often—bears in spacious habitats while learning about conservation efforts. It’s a favorite stop for close-up photographs in a safe, respectful setting.

Turnagain Arm to Anchorage

Follow the shoreline of Turnagain Arm, where steep mountains meet the sea. Look for potential sightings of Dall sheep on the cliffs or beluga whales in the inlet. Farther north, pass Potter Marsh, part of the Anchorage Coastal Wildlife Refuge.

Arrival in Anchorage

Enjoy convenient drop-off at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (first) or select hotel locations. Settle in and savor the mountain-and-sea scenery you’ve just traveled through.
